Happy Halloween! Hope everyone had a day filled with Halloween goodness. This was our first week back from the fall break and it was a rather busy week!
What Happened in Class this Week?
The class enjoyed returning back from break and seeing the spooktacular Halloween decorations in the class room!
Quite an exciting week after the break. We made goodie bags with Lesley’s PPP project. Read spooky stories at circle time. Had a fun trick or treat down the hall. Celebrated the birth of Scarlet’s new baby sister and the birthday of our very own Teacher Berta! Next week, we’ll have an Origami PPP from Mei. I hope to see you all Tuesday, 7pm, at Celia’s for our Parent’s Night Out!
The kids were so happy so see each other back at BH after our fall break! Somehow, the classroom was more civilized – kids using more words than shrieks or tears. Our dear little ones are growing up! On Friday, we hosted our first Halloween costume fashion show. The kids warmed up by running laps inside the Fireside Room and settling down with a monster story by Teacher Mie. Then, the show began with each sticky friend being called out by name and character. Off they each went, sprinting/gliding/galloping down the “runway,” often tackling their loving parent with giggles and outstretched arms. We also had a fun halloween themed snack time. The after-party indoors was set to a playlist led off by the late, great Michael Jackson, whose music still gets everyone to dance to their own beat. With costumes neatly tucked away in their cubbies, more joyful ruckus ensued in the backyard. Trick or treating downstairs closed out the day, as happy kids went home with fun gizmos, squishy rubber pumpkins, and glow-in-the-dark doo-dads galore! Kimberly and some of the children explored new redwood stumps up in the yard. They made ramps with the gutters and sent pumpkins across and off of the redwood stumps. Indeed, Bunker Hill knows how to celebrate Halloween 🙂
And a special goodie from earlier in the month: More shenanigans from 3-Day’s pumpkin fest!
It’s never a dull moment in Pre-K! The class started with a special pirate treasure hunt organized by Luca and Karla (Luca’s mom). The kids also had fun times and exciting projects playing with toilet paper, such as making capes, skirts, and mummy-wear. Erin’s dad came with a special deliveryof giant slabs of redwood tree and the class watched as the cuttings were unloaded. Curiodessy came to visit the class, bringing an array of furs, feathers, and creatures! We got a chance to see a turkey vulture up close, as well as a California King snake and an albino ferret. After the exciting visit, the class was treated to a fantastic Halloween snack spread set-up by Megan (Lucas’ mom). The class then paraded around the grounds and practiced trick-or-treating using the bags that they created from Lesley’s (Isla’s mom) PPP. Pre-K ended the week by participating in a large love circle!
